FESTIVE EDITION OF ROCK HERK STARTS WITH TICKET SALE

As one of the pioneers, Rock Herk takes already three decades part in the world of Belgian festivals. All these years, a small group of friends and music lovers has obtained a permanent spot between the alternative music festivals, for which they’re appreciated far beyond the border.

Presenting good and new acts from the alternative rock and dance scene within a beautiful green environment has always been the starting-point, and this will never change. But, today, because the world of festivals becomes more and more business-like and has to follow many rules, this same group of friends has to change things to maintain the quality and the position of Rock Herk.

Lately, with 17.000 visitors each day, the festival was totally full (except for the second festival day in 2011, because of heavy rain storms). Rock Herk has to reduce the amount of visitors to 12.000 each day, to minimalise the influence on park Olmenhof, the site of the festival, and to guarantee the security of the visitors. Besides this there’s a financial strain which is no longer maintainable for an organisation that’s completely voluntary. The costs are increasing every year and the income has reached its limit.

Due to all these changes, after thirty years, Rock Herk stops being a free festival. For the first time in its existence, Rock Herk starts with a ticket sale. Combination tickets cost 32 euro, day tickets cost 20 euro. Rock Herk is working hard on a solid line-up to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the festival. The upcoming months they plan many things to highlight this festive edition of Rock Herk. For more news, subscribe to the newsletter and keep an eye on the website and Facebook.

Rock Herk number 30 takes place on Friday July 13th and Saturday July 14th 2012 in park Olmenhof in Herk-de-Stad.

The first names of the line-up are being announced within a couple of weeks. Up untill then you can get a free camping ticket with a combination ticket.

Rock Herk is looking forward to the Summer!
